At Friends of Crescent Beach, our mission is clear: to promote through advocacy, education, and activities the improvement, support, protection, and enjoyment of Crescent Beach. Every year, the Soar on the Shore Kite and Beach Festival perfectly embodies that mission by bringing our community together in a joyful, meaningful way to celebrate and care for the shoreline we love.

More Than Just Kites in the Sky

While the spectacular stunt kite shows and colorful displays are the centerpiece of the day, Soar on the Shore offers much more. It is a day where families connect with nature, learn about the environment, and feel inspired to be stewards of Crescent Beach. The event is designed to educate through experience — whether it’s handling reptiles, participating in crafts, or exploring the new AVA Exploration Station where kids discover fossils and beach restoration.

Education at the Heart of Our Work

This year, we are especially excited to spotlight the AVA Exploration Station, a hands-on educational space where young visitors can earn a limited-edition Crescent Beach Ranger badge. By engaging children in learning about fossils, beach ecology, and restoration efforts, we are fostering the next generation of advocates for Crescent Beach and beyond.

Supporting Our Vision, One Event at a Time

Soar on the Shore is also our largest annual fundraiser. The funds raised help support ongoing conservation efforts, educational programming, and community activities that keep Crescent Beach vibrant and healthy. By participating, whether as a visitor, volunteer, or donor, you contribute directly to making our vision a reality — transforming Crescent Beach into a model for best beach management practices and a cherished destination for residents and visitors alike.
